Xinhua Daily Natural Science Supplement during the War with Japanese Invaders

"自然科学"副刊是抗战时期重庆《新华日报》的重要副刊,是为适应抗战形势,在一些自然科学家和读者要求下设立的。创刊目的主要是为满足抗战建国的需要,主要内容既包括自然科学的一些基本知识,也涉及社会政治问题。这一副刊存在时间不长,但却具有一定影响,对抗战做出了不少贡献。其停刊则是各种因素促成的。

The Xinhua Daily Natural Science Supplement was launched in Chongqing during the war with Japanese invaders to answer the call from natural scientists and readers. The purpose was to aid the campaign to fight against invaders and to build up the country through the introduction of basics of natural science. Articles commenting on social and political issues were carried as well. The Natural Science Supplement was in existence for only a short period but became influential and had indeed facilitated the campaign.
