By means of the systematic study on the phenomenon of host effect of the National Games, the paper reveals the basic characteristics of the host effect and provides some theoretical reference for the host cities or provinces so as to help them optimize the host effect. The research shows that the host effect of the National Games has such characteristics as high efficiency, progressiveness, retardance, exclusiveness and double-edgedness
