In this study, we explored the relationship between aggression and children's delinquency in early adoles- cence, as well as the moderating role of perceived popularity. 1755 children in the 7th grade from 12 junior high schools were investigated. The results were as follows: (1) Physical aggression positively predicted delinquency, but no convincing evidence showed that relational aggression had an effect on delinquency, which implied that different forms of aggression may relate to adolescent delinquency differently. (2) Perceived peer popularity moderated the relation between physical aggression and adolescent delinquency. Specifically, physical aggression was related to delinquency less strongly among popular adolescents than that among unpopular adolescents.
