根据思维语言假设,思维是第一性而语言是第二性的,口头语汇的意义派生于有意义的内部言语。这就能提供一种方式来把交际中的语言使用作为思维中语言使用的派生物。一般会话含义的产生不受任何语境特征的影响,思维中使用语言也具有这样的特征。而特殊会话含义要受语境特征的影响,交际中使用的语言也具有这样的特征。在思维语言假设视角下,特殊会话含义可以被看作是一般会话含义的派生物。

According to Language of Thought Hypothesis, thinking comes before language and meaning of verbal words is derived from the meaningful internal language. Thus, use of language in communication can be regarded as use of language in thinking. Unlike generalized conversational implicature, particularized conversational implicature is influenced by con- text. From the perspective of Language of Thought Hypothesis, particularized conversational implicature can be seen as the derivative of generalized conversational implicature.
