大冈升平《野火》的主人公"我"(田村一等兵)是一个知识分子士兵,在"我"身上体现出多重矛盾的性格和特点。"我"集知识分子的理性与侵略士兵的残暴于一体,既是战争的加害者又是受害者,为保全性命逐步丧失人性,最终变成了吃人肉的魔鬼。"我"在世人眼中举止癫狂却又不乏理性思考的一面,对日本战后时局具有较清醒的认识。

The hero ＂I＂ in Fires on the Plain written by Shohei Ooka was an intellectual soldier who had contradicted personalities and features in himself.Being the victim and the assailant of the war as well,＂I＂ combined the rationality of intellectuality with the cruelty of the aggressive soldier.On one hand,in order to preserve his life ＂I＂ gradually lost the humanity,finally turned into a devil eating human flesh.On the other hand,though being regarded mad by the world,＂I＂ still remained one aspect of rational thought,having a clear understanding of the postwar situation in Japan.
