A Preliminary Study on the Storage of Maize seeds in the Summer

玉米是我国的主要粮食作物之一。为了稳定玉米生产,必需搞好种子贮备。玉米种子贮藏困难,尤其在夏季,极易发生劣变与发热。因为,玉米渡夏贮藏技术,是当前生产上急待解决的重大课题。

In order to know well how to store up safely maize hybrid seeds in the sum-mer the effects of different seed moisture content and storage temperature to therate of aging were studied at laboratory condition.The regression equation betweenseed moisture content temperature and storage days in keeping 85% germinationwas suggested.The results of actual storage studies at some places in Liao Ningprovince showed that the maximum moisture content which maize seed can be storedsafely in the summer was 14%,the ideal seed moisture content was lower than 13%Using natural low temperature and sealed storage,the rate of aging of seed wasdeereased and deoreased the effects of higher temperature in Summer.Different hy-brids and original germination rate also are parameters of influencing maire seedsafety storage in the summer.
