Comparison of literary thoughts between Emerson and Allan Poe

针对19世纪美国文学史上出现的爱默生与爱伦·坡之间的逆向现象,采用比较分析的研究方法,分析了他们各自所倡导和践行的文艺思想。研究发现:爱默生的思想代表美国文化发展的主流方向,而坡的思想则反传统、反潮流,为当时的社会所不容。但是,他们的文学思想都在美国文学史上占有极其重要的地位,推动了美国文学的发展。

In view of the reverse styles between Ralph Waldo Emerson and Edgar Allan Poe in Ameri- can literary history of 19th century, comparative analyses were made to analyze the literary thoughts they each preached and practiced in their works. Findings show that Emerson represented the mainstream of American literature history, while Poe went against the tradition and the trend of the times. Therefore, Poe was refused by the society of his times. However, both Emerson and Poe＇s thoughts, which play a vital role in American history, have greatly contributed to the development of American literature.
