风格翻译的认知阐释

The Cognitive Nature of Style in Translation

在翻译范畴内,风格问题主要是文本风格的感知与再现问题。传统译论强调了风格翻译的重要性,但对于其本质和文本风格的感知与再现两个过程都鲜有具体描述。语言学、文体学的相关研究表明,风格是文本"主题"和"语言形式特征"构成的共同体。以此为基础,从认知语义观进行考察,我们认为在翻译范畴内,风格可概括为以下两种表现形式:(1)原文语言表达式所呈现的"原发性识解方式"与"主题"之间的语义关联;(2)译文所表征的"创造性识解方式"与主题之间的语义关联。

The style of source text in its effect on the translator as a reader and the style of the target text as choices of the translator are the major concerns of style in translation.Past translation theory says little about the nature of style and the process of style translating,though emphasis on the necessity of style translation could be frequently heard.Understandings of the nature of style as a feature of a literary text that are in currency in the circles of linguistics and stylistics,however,all relate style to the ＂theme＂ and ＂linguistic choices＂ of the text in question.Based on these understandings and an adoption of cognitive linguistic conception of meaning,it is discovered that style in translation mainly resides in the construal of an expression of the source text,where the style of the source text may be perceived and the creative construal imposed by the translator on the target text,where the source text style may be appropriately manifested.
