New Recognitions about the Building Time of Ningxia County in the Ming Dynasty

宁夏镇是明九边之一,在明代的北部边防中起着重要作用。关于它的建置时间有很多种说法,本文在综合各家说法的基础上认为:一个完整军镇的形成,既要有常设的军镇长官,又要有固定的文武官员系统和军事防区。以此为标准,考证出宁夏镇在永乐至宣德间开始形成,正德年间最终确立。

Ningxia County was one of the nine frontiers in the Ming Dynasty and played a very important role in the defense of the northern border. There have been many descriptions about the time of its construction. After making a generalization of different descriptions, the article concludes that the formation of a complete military county not only had its standing military officer but also a stationary official and officer system and military defense area. Judging by such a standard, it proves that its formation was be- gun from Yongle to Xuande period and its final establishment was in the period of Zhengde in the Ming Drnasty.
