Succession and Development of Mao Zedong's Speech at the Forum of Art and Culture in Yan'an

1979年召开的中国文学艺术工作者第四次代表大会是在当代文学史上承前启后、具有里程碑意义的重要会议,在文艺与人民的关系、文艺与政治的关系、文艺歌颂与"暴露"问题等三方面继承和发展了1942年延安文艺座谈会的基本精神,有力地推进了文艺界乃至整个思想界拨乱反正的进程。

Convened in 1979, the 4th National Congress of Chinese Writers and Artists served as a link between past and future in the history of modern Chinese literature. The congress inherited and developed the spirits of the 1942 forum of art and culture in Yah＇an in dealing with the relations between arts and the people, arts and politics, literature eulogy and ＂exposure.＂ Hailed as a milestone, the congress has pushed vigorously forward the development of arts and culture in China by correcting the wrong thoughts that still haunted the intellectuals.
