The phenomenon that college English teachers bear heavy teaching task is common in China. Thus, many teachers＇ attitude toward teaching outweighs the scientific research. The study discusses the necessity, approaches and significance for college English teachers to improve their research capacity. College English teachers should master some essential research methods and he able to combine scientific research with teaching, and promote their own research quality and standard of teaching through scientific research.
