This paper describes the principle and the method of the site measurement of the berthing velocity with displacement transmitters, introduces the working principle and mechanism of the transmitters, and the measurement system, and discusses the way to measure the berthing velocity, berthing angle, plane turning, fender deflection and the berthing impact. The typical measured waves and results are presented as well.
