As a kind of secreted protein,the insulin like growth factor 1(IFG 1) has diverse effects on growth and metabolism,and contributes to the nutritional regulation of the body.We summarize and interpret recent studies on the essential roles and mechanisms of IGF 1,and discuss its effects on increasing the efficacy of parenteral nutrition.
