Prototypical Effect of Certain Polysemous Lexical Categories as the Basis of Subjective Construal

从认知语言学范畴化原型理论出发,考察原型效应同语言主-客观识解的关系。从所涉词项范畴的分析,可以看出:(1)主观化仅仅对应于非中心样例,从而具有明确的范围和界限;(2)主观化可被看作概念化者潜意识维持这些范畴界限的一种心理努力。作为一种语义转移机制,主观化识解的语义动因可能仍旧以范畴原型为依据。

Drawing on current researches into the subjectivity of language,and adopting a cognitive linguistic perspective on the prototype theory of categorization,this paper explores the relationship between prototypical effect of certain polysemous categories and the subjective-objective construal as narrowly defined in Langacker's terms.The study renders clear that(1) subjectification corresponds exclusively to the non-central instances of the above-mentioned categories,with its range and boundary explicitly demarcated;and that(2) it may be thought of,in psychological terms,as the conceptualizer's unconscious mental efforts to delimitate the boundary of these categories.Understood as a path leading to the emergence of new senses of a certain lexical item,subjectification might have been semantically motivated by the basic values of the central exemplars of a category.
