The article is an edited transcript of the diarogue between Miao Pu and Qi Xin, two architects born in the 1950s. Both were among the earliest of a generation of architects who received their university education post Cultural Revolution and continued onto study architecture in the West. Through discussions about their life experience, architectural education, with particular references to areas that both architects are concerned with： localization and public nature of architecture, the discussion traces the developments in the thinking and practice of the individual architects and the hallmark of their time.
