Bharati Mukherjee,the renowned Asian-Indian American writer and the National Book Critics Circle Award winner,discusses two topics in this interview: Immigrant Writing and her new novel Miss New India.As one of the founders of Immigrant Writing,Mukherjee talked about the definition of this coinage,its meaning and development,its significance as a corresponding new literary genre to Globalization,and its difference from postcolonial literature.The novelist also retraced the four immigrant experiences in her lifetime,and told us their impact on her writing.Miss New India is the last novel to Mukherjee's 'New Trilogy,' published seven years after the second one and therefore has been long expected.The second part of this interview focuses on the writer's device,writing technique,as well as her thoughts on the world and life imbedded in the new novel.
