浅论文学经典与大学英语教育

A Tentative Discussion on Canonical Literary Texts in Chinese College English Teaching

摘要 我国大陆现阶段英语教学效果令人反思。本文认为,要改变这种现状,首先需确立文学经典在教学观念和内容的中心地位,因为英语文学经典能有效帮助实现大学英语教学目标,帮助学生了解作品里包含的文化,丰富教学内容,陶冶情操,促进英语技能学习。因此,大学英语教学应以文学经典为中心内容设计教材,选用适当的教学方法,并结合现代互联网技术,以实现大学英语教学的目标。 Chinese mainland English teaching in the last two decades has been arguably ineffective in terms of the time spent. To solve the problem, we must return to careful study of canonical literary texts as the core in English education curriculum. English canonical literary texts are the best examples in language, story-telling, and culture. A careful study of such texts can motivate English learners, provide them with the best models or patterns for language training, and help them accumulate cultural knowledge about the West. Current Internet technologies as an instrument can be integrated into college English teaching. English instructors should encourage students to study canonical works and share their study experience with others in the classroom and via the Internet.
