By literature review on gender roles and the analysis of characteristics of gender roles and relationship of gender roles, personality and mental health, this paper finds out that ： characteristics of gender roles show in the aspects of type, special participants and cross culture; gender role is highly relevant to personality and mental health; the type of gender role has a certain predicting function on personality and mental health.
