玄奘的文化自觉及其在翻译事业中的体现

Xuan Zang′s cultural consciousness and its show in translation career

目前的文化自觉研究偏重纯理论思辨,而作为其支撑的案例研究尚显贫乏。基于此,这里大胆采用玄奘作为文化自觉的范例,借以丰富文化自觉的内涵,加深文化自觉的认识。玄奘的文化自觉体现在对已有佛典翻译不足乃至谬误的认识、对印度佛法的扬弃的求真态度及其利用翻译践行文化自觉三个方面。

The present study on cultural consciousness puts emphasis on the theoretical dimensions while the supporting case studies have been insufficient. Based on the status quo, this paper adopts Xuan Zang as a case in point for the embodiment of cultural consciousness, thus enriching the concept of cultural consciousness as well as promoting our understanding about it. Xuan Zang＇s cultural consciousness can be observed from three perspectives：his perception of the mistakes or defects in the process of Buddhist scripture translation, his correct attitude of the Indian Buddha dharma and his continuous translation practice.
