Factors Affecting the Improvement of English Listening Competency of Students in Higher Vocational and Technical Colleges and Countermeasures

英语学习的目的在于培养学生的听、说、读、写、译五种综合能力。具备良好的听力技能不仅是提高说、读、写、译四种学习技能的关键步骤和重要环节,更是实现语言学习者良好交际的保证。为了适应社会发展对人才的需求,也为了将来学生在工作、生活和学习中的可持续发展,在英语教学中必须重视学生听力能力的培养与提高。

Cultivating students＇ comprehensive competencies in listening, speaking, writing, and translation is the chief objective of English learning. A fairly good command of English listening skills is not only a key step for the improvement of the other four competencies, namely, speaking, writing, and translation, but also a guarantee for language learners＇ communicative competence development. Therefore; in order to meet social demands for talent cultivation and in order to foster a sustainable development path for language learners, it is imperative that great im- portance be attached to the cultivation and improvement of students＇ listening competency.
