The auxiliary IGBT Inverter rated 50kVA was designed to replace the GTO inverter which equipped to Electric Locomotive. The design of EMC considerations such as the configuration optimum, grounding, earthing, shielding and snubbing technique are presented. The experimental result shows that only a capacitor with low inductance is applicable as a snubber for IGBT invertors rated 50kVA.
