摘要
用语用学的"预设理论"、"合作原则"和"言语行为理论"对《十个印第安人》的英文原作进行探析,发现作品从头至尾穿插着两条线索,一明一暗,明写少年尼克浪漫情怀的幻灭,暗写美国白人对印第安人的种族歧视,分析了以乔.加纳一家和尼克父子为代表的美国白人农民阶层和中产阶层对印第安人的种族歧视,这是标榜种族平等的美国文化的悲哀。
Through the application of presupposition, cooperative principle and speech act theory in English pragmatics, this paper makes a detailed study of the verbal interactions of the protagonists in Ten Indians and thus reveals two thematic threads of the short story with one obvious being Nick＇s disillusion of his calf love with an Indian girl and the other oblivious being the prejudice of white Americans against Indians. This is an American cultural tragedy.
