After World War II,following the American cold war strategy,Japan introduced nuclear power as a kind of national program. In this way,the nuclear power industry that subsisted in the military had always been faltering overtly or covertly in its development process.Although Japan had undergone four major nuclear disasters since Hiroshima was hit by a nuclear bomb on August 6,1945,Japanese people had repeatedly launched the anti-nuclear movements. But as a state,Japan had not confronted its nuclear issue. The Japanese writer Kenzaburō e became Japan's most famous anti-nuclear fighter in the Japanese cultural circle because of his literary writings and his participation of the realistic movements. This paper deals with how Kenzaburō e responds to the distressing experiences of the nuclear age by analyzing his literary writings.
