The paper introduces the concept of cloud computing, analyses advantages and disadvantages of the traditional structure of city platform for geoinformation common services, discusses the design of structure, the core technology and the realization about the platform based on cloud computing. Finally, it summarizes that the application of cloud technology upgrades the service ability and efficiency of platform for geoinformation common services , it will also broaden the application of GIS and fasten the development of geograohical information industry.
