河南固始平寨古城遗址发掘报告

PINGZHAI CITY-SITE IN GUSHI,HENAN

平寨古城遗址位于河南省固始县城东北20公里豫皖交界处的泉河铺乡古城自然村南缘一座高台地上(图一)。1978年3月,固始县文物部门在文物普查中发现该遗址,1982年列为河南省重点文物保护单位。1993年秋,北京大学考古学系与信阳地区文物管理委员会联合对该遗址进行了小规模试掘。发掘工作从1993年10月15日始。

The Pingzhai city-site lies at Quanhe township,Gushi county,Xinyan prefecture,Henan province,neighboring on Hubei and Anhui provinces.In the fall of 1993,the Archaeology Department of Peking University,in concert with the Xinyang Prefectural CPAM,carried out a small-scale excavation,and found cultural remains belonging to the Henan Longshan culture,the Baijiazhuang phase of Shang culture and the Western Zhou period respectively.A preliminary systematization of the unearthed material shows that the different periods of cultural remains of this site share the major features with the corresponding cultures in the Central Plains.Meanwhile,they possess certain regional traits and were obviously influenced by contemporary cultures in the south and other regions. Although the present excavation is on a small scale,the cultural sequence,features and character known from this site,combining with other archaeological achievements of the same periods,will contribute to the study of related academic problems.
