庞德认为,译者应该有能力了解原作作者创作时的情境和意境以及作者的创作意图等,而译者的职责在于通过了解和把握这些因素,把包含这些创作因素的作品以适当的形式再现给目的语的读者。因此,作品中的个别语句的翻译不再重要,重要的是所有细节凝成的作品的意境。艾略特说"每个时代都必须有自己的翻译",因为,随着时间和地点的改变,作品所表达的意境也会改变。本文旨在根据庞德诗歌翻译理论所倡导的译者的职责的某些观点,阐述诗歌翻译过程中的某些方法和策略,以期对中国古代诗歌翻译实践提供参考作用。

Pound believed that a translator should be capable of knowing the writer＇s mood, atmosphere and aim in the original text, and presenting them all to the target readers in a proper way. It becomes not so necessary to translate every word or sentence but the atmosphere in which all the details are arranged. Elliot, T.S. said ＂Every generation must have their own translation＂, since as time and place change, the situation and atmosphere in the poetry change, too. The paper states some of the strategies of poetry translation based on the analysis of perspec- tives of the duties of a translator by Pound, and it is greatly expected to provide guidance for the practice of Chi- nese classic poetry.
