梅州市双语标识翻译现状调查研究

A Study on Translation of Bilingual Signs in Meizhou City

就梅州市公共场所双语标识的汉英翻译现状进行了调查。以问卷调查的方式研究了外籍人士对梅州市双语标识的满意度,并请外籍人士对梅州市双语标识的英译文样本进行了质量评估,在此基础上分析了双语标识英译文样本错误的分布情况和错误类别。结果显示梅州市双语标识的覆盖面很小,现有的双语标识英译文总体质量不高,外籍人士对梅州市双语标识的现状不太满意。最后,就如何提高梅州市双语标识的翻译质量提出了几点建议。

An investigation is made into the present situation of bilingual signs translation in Meizhou city from the following three aspects：to what degree foreigners are satisfied with the translation of bilingnal signs;the assessment of quality of the translation made by foreigners ;the analysis of the wrong translation samples. The result reveals that foreigners are not satisfied with the translation of bilingual signs because of the low coverage and poor translation quality. Based on the investigation, some suggestions on how to improve the situation are made in this paper.
