The Tradition of Praising Beauty of Chinese Contemporary Literature

所谓美颂传统是指歌功颂德的传统,具体来说是指作者歌颂使之激动的神灵、神圣、英雄、君王、文化古迹、国家等的传统。作为一种影响巨大的文学传统,美颂是一定历史条件下的产物,不仅影响到古代文学和中国古代文论的发展,而且其影响还一直延续到中国现当代文学中。今天,我们依然能在当代诗歌、小说、戏剧和散文创作中看到美颂传统的重要影响。美颂传统已经成为一种极为强固的文化结构和心理力量,是民族心理、意识、性格的反映。

The literary tradition of praising berauty is glorification, by which the authors sing praise on divini-ties, heros, kings, historic cultural monuments, country, etc. As a result of enormous influence on literary tradi-tion, it is the products of given nations in given histories. Not only the literary tradition greatly influences the devel-opment of ancient literary and Chinese literary theory, but also it influences the development of Contemporary Liter- ature. We can find out the influences of singing praises on contemporary poem, contemporary novels, contemporary theatres, and so on. It has become a kind of cultural structure and psychological force which reflects Chinese na-tional strength, ideology and personality.
