The importance of the construction of off-campus practice base was introduced in the paper. Many problems in the construction of the off-campus practice base for applied chemistry major of North China Electric Power University and were also discussed. Meanwhile, the role the off-campus practice base plays in talent cultivation was introduced. Finally it was pointed out that strengthening the off-campus practice bases and carrying out the reform in practice teaching has great significance in cultivating the engineering practice ability, the innovation capacity and the entrepreneurship of students, and in improving the quality of higher education.
