On Indian Widow's Social Status from the Perspective of Indian Literary Canons

现今流传的大量印度文学典籍,向读者呈现了寡妇作为一个数千年来受压迫的群体的社会地位的变迁以及印度知识界包括后来殖民时代印度社会改革者对于寡妇问题的思考,以此可以管窥印度传统文化中的压迫性因素在印度历史中的流变以及对于印度国家现代转型的影响。

This essay presents to readers the change of the social status of widows,an oppressed group throughout thousands of years in Indian history,and thus observe the reflections of Indian intellectuals upon widow issue,including the later coming reformers in colonial era,to examine the change of the oppressive elements of Indian traditional culture in India's history and its influence upon the modern transition of the nation.
