The Perspective on Japanese Culture in Yu Dafu’s Exotic Novels

郁达夫在早期创作过几篇以日本为背景的异域小说,但由于文化过滤的作用,中国读者在解读这些小说的过程中,曾出现了不同程度的文化误读。而造成这种文化误读的原因在于日本文化在两性关系、社会等级、审美情趣等方面具有不同于中国文化的独特民族特色。

Yu Dafu writes several exotic novels with Japanese background in his early days of writing. Yet because of the influence of culture filtration, the literature misreading happens in certain degrees among Chinese readers. Through specific analysis on Yu Dafu’s exotic novels in this paper, Japanese culture at the aspects of gender relationship, social hierarchy, aesthetic taste and etc. are found to have its own unique characteristics which are the main reasons to cause Chinese readers’ misreading Yu Dafu’s novels.
