On Wukan Model's Implications on China's Democracy at Local Levels

人民当家作主是社会主义民主政治的核心和本质要求,基层民主建设是国家制度民主的具体化,是社会主义民主广泛而深刻的实践。深刻理解和深入构建基层民主,对我国发展社会主义民主政治尤为重要。乌坎事件是我国经济高速发展下各种矛盾积累的结果,具有较强的案例性和示范性。本文从事件意义、原因分析、对策思考三个方面入手,浅析事件带来的启示,希望总结出一些对我国基层民主建设可供借鉴的建议和意见。

People are the masters of the country. This is the core and the essential requirement of the socialist democracy. Promoting democracy at local levels is not only a specific action of promoting national institutional democracy, but also an extensive, further practice of the socialist democracy. It is of paramount importance for China to further understanding and complete the democracy system at local levels so as to develop China＇s socialist, democratic political system. The Wukan incident is the consequence of accumulating conflicts generated during China＇s rapid economic development. It makes a good exemplary case. By analyzing implications of the incident from 3 aspects, namely the lesson learned, the cause and the countermeasure, this thesis aims at putting forward some suggestions for improving China＇s democracy at local levels.
