Domestication and Foreignization:from Cultural Perspective

语言、文化和翻译三者关系密切,翻译不仅涉及语言问题,也涉及文化问题。近年来,语言与文化研究的发展推动翻译理论的发展,翻译研究从重视语言的转换转向更重视文化的转换。归化和异化是处理翻译中文化问题的方法,也一直是译界近年来争论的焦点。对此,从文化角度出发,探讨评论归化和异化各自的作用和局限,以此说明异化方法在翻译具有独特文化内涵的专有项和文化交流方面更胜一筹。

Translation is closely related to language and culture. Research on the relationship of lan- guage and culture has given impetus to the development of translation theory. Cultural translation has become a hot topic. Domestication and foreignization are two main translation methods in dealing with cultural prob- lems. This paper aims to argue in favor of the fact that foreignization is better in translating cultural specific i tems, and in intercultural communication.
