The Application and Limitation of Conversing in Dictionary Example Translation

词典例证翻译不同于其他文体翻译。转换翻译法是一种常用的翻译方法,常以使原文和译文失去形式对等为必然结果,现试通过对比牛津高阶英汉双解词典(第四版)和牛津高阶英汉双解词典(第六版)例证翻译的异同,探讨词性转换、肯定与否定的转换、句式转换、语态转换四种转换在词典例证翻译中的使用和可能的局限性,以便为选取词典例证翻译方法提供参考。

Example Translation is different from translation of other styles. Conversing is a commonly used method, which consequentially results in the loss of form equivalence between the source language and target language. By comparing example translations in Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary（OALD） 4th edition and OALD 6th edition, this paper discusses whether the following four conversing translation methods are applicable in example translation： conversion be- tween parts of speech, conversion between affirmative and negative, conversion between sentence patterns and conversion between active and passive. This paper is intended to provide inference in choosing example translation methods.
