Objective To observe the long-term effect of different porcelain fused to metal(PFM)internal crowns restoration on the VEGF(vascular endothelial growth factor)level of gingival tissues. Methods To choose 162 teeth repaired after 3 years by Cobalt-Chromium alloy PFM(Co-Cr-PFM)and Titanium alloy PFM(Ti-alloy-PFM) crowns, and dividing them two groups,Group T1 consists of 82 teeth(Co-Cr alloy),and group T2 includes 80 teeth(Titanium alloy). With the contralateral or jaw same-name health teeth of group T1 and T2 as the control group,to keep a record of the gingival index(GI) and probing depth(PD) of the experimental group and control group. To collect the gingival crevicular fluid(GCF)with the filter strip method and measure GCF amount, and determine the level of VEGF in the gingival crevicular fluid by ELISA(enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay). Results There are no statistical differences(P0.05) in Clinical periodontal index(G1,PD) between the group T1 and control group, and there are statistical differences between the amount of gingival crevicular fluid(GCF) and VEGF(P0.05).The above indexes between group T2 and control group have the statistical differences(P0.01).There is statistical differences(P0.05) between group T1 and group T2.Conclusion The different PFM crowns have different long-term impacts on periodontal tissues. The repair by Co-Cr-PFM crowns has better clinical effect and less long-term influence than that by Ti-alloyPFM crowns.
