方言词“高”何以有“周遍”义

How Has the Dialectal Character "Gao" Evolved the Meaning "All-roundness"

重庆方言中,"高"可以用来表"周遍"意义,其主要放在句中作谓语的补助语。文章通过考察认为,"周遍"义并非存在于字形"高"的词义演进轨迹之中;表"周遍"义的本字,不应是"高"而当是字形"交"字。只因为方音变读的缘故才被读作"gāo",然后在记词时又将其写作了同音字"高"。重庆方言表"周遍"义的"gāo",当与普通话"高"的字形、词义无任何关联。

In Chongqing dialect, the character ＂gao＂ can mean ＂all-roundness＂, and mainly functions as the predicate complement. This paper argues that the meaning ＂all-roundness＂ is not evolved on the font of the character ＂gao＂, and the original character denoting ＂all-roundness＂ is the character ＂jiao＂ rather than ＂gao＂. The former is pronounced as ＂gao＂ due to dialectal varying pronunciation and wrongly notated as the homophonic character ＂gao＂. The character ＂gao＂ denoting ＂all-roundness＂ has nothing to do with the character ＂gao＂ both in font and in meaning.
