In this paper are analyzed hay Chatrerley's the and three other full-length novels by the twentith-century British writer David Herbert LAWRENCE, with special emphasis on his exposition of sex and love. In defiance of all dissenting views held by scholars at home and abroad, this paper argues that, by the original intention of the description of love in his novels, sexual relation comes first among all interpersonal relationship. An investigation is made from various angles in support of this new argument.
