The phenomenon of spirit is closely related to that of material.Shen Congwen's understanding of life is inseperable from his perception of the natural character-istics of water.The characteristics of water,such as the easy manner,the softness,the mobility and the flexibility,keep coordination with the 'world of life'of Shen Congwen,which forms the metaphor of his life.
