Contribution of the Ming Dynasty to the Study of Ci

明代是中国词学发展史上的一个重要时期。词韵、词谱之有专书 ,自明代始 ;明人编集的词选甚多 ,吴讷《唐宋名贤百家词》,毛晋《宋六十名家词》,尤堪称词学构建的大工程 ;明代词学批评在词史观、体性论。

The Ming Dynasty was an important period in the history of the study of Ci for three reasons. First of all, it was in the Ming Dynasty that special books on the prosody and stave of Ci first appeared. Secondly, a large numbers of selected works of Ci were compiled during that period. Among them were such impressive works as Wu Nas A collection of Ci by One Hundred Well known Authors in the Tang and Song Dynasties, and Mao Jins Ci by Sixty Famous Authors in the Song Dynasty. Thirdly, the Ci reviews of the period presented unique views on the history, style and affectivity of Ci.
