The process and mechanism of producing dichloroethane by direct chlorination of ethylene and chlorine gas are introduced.Trial run results show that suitable temperature is 110～115 ℃,weight percentage of catalyst FeCl 3 is (8～15)×10 -4 ,and weight percentage of NaCl is (5～8)×10 -5 for direct chlorination.
