This article introduced geochemical characteristics, training objectives and positioning of undergraduate, and proposed the research ability of geochemical undergraduates have to be improved, then discussesed the success stories of their own and other teaching practice and addressed the feasibility of series of measurements as a start to improve geochemical undergraduates＇ research ability by extending innovative experimental cycle, reinforcing the openness of the laboratory, adding the comprehensive and designing experiments, making the scientific research and teaching work organically integrated, and improving the utilization rate of ＇producing - learning - researching＇ practice base. I believe that in the near future, the undergraduates majoring in geochemistry will have solid theoretical knowledge, but also will have excellent scientific research abilities. They will become the innovative and practical senior experts.
