摘要
Four years ago, the First Symposium on Insect Midgut Biology was held in Guangzhou, China, from April 7-11, 2008. Since then significant and exciting progress has been made in the physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, genomics and proteomics of the insect midgut. We will, therefore, organize the Second International Symposium on Insect Midgut Biology to bring together researchers from all over the world to meet, exchange and discuss research progress and discoveries in Drosophila, mosquitoes, the silkworm, agricultural pests and other insects. The meeting will broadly cover the research areas in insect midgut biology in six themes：
