A Third Approach in Economic Geography:Evolutionary Economics

20世纪80年代以来,经济地理学发展迅速,新的研究方法和研究方向不断出现,似有形成新经济地理、制度经济地理和演化经济地理三足鼎立之势。从方法论、核心假设、分析模式和空间引入4个方面对比分析了新经济地理、制度经济地理与演化方法的异同,对演化经济地理研究进展及其学科贡献做了简单的回顾。研究得出演化经济地理学的方法既不能还原为新古典的方法,也不能还原为制度的方法,在研究方法、核心假设、分析模式、空间处理和解释途径等方面存在着明显的差别。然而演化经济地理、制度经济地理和新经济地理并不是毫无联系、彼此没有可借鉴之处,它们是经济地理研究中的3个不同方面,且各自解决了一个对方没有解决的科学问题。

After the 1980s, economic geography developed rapidly, new research methods and research direc- tions were emerging, it seems thus to form the three pillars of new economic geography, institution economic geog- raphy and evolutionary economic geography. First, the paper explains the commonalities and differences among new economic geography, institution economic geography and evolutionary economic geography from methodology, the core assumptions, analytical model and spatial induction ; second, it reviews the progress and contributions of evo- lutionary economic geography simply. So, we show that evolutionary economic geography is reducible neither to the neoclassical approach nor to the institutional approach in economic geography, there are significant differences in their research methods, core assumptions, analysis model, spatial processing, and interpretation of way. However, the three approach are not without contact, they can learn from each other, and they are the three different aspects in economic geography, which solved a scientific problem that the others do not.
