Research on second language writing in the past 50 years: Theories, instruction and assessment

本文主要评述了二语(L2)写作理论、教学与评估五十年的发展历程,剖析了三种流派各自的写作理念、教学方法和评估方法,即以文本为中心的写作研究流派,以作者为中心的写作研究流派以及以读者/社会文化语境为中心的写作研究流派。三种流派虽强调的重点不同,但也不乏相通之处。时至今日,三种流派仍然在影响着L1和L2写作教学与评估,为满足不同的写作需求服务。

This article provides a historical overview of the development of second language （I2） writing theories, instruction and assessment in the past fifty years and discusses respectively the loci of three approaches to writing research： text-oriented approach, writer-oriented approach and reader-oriented/sociocuhural approach. Although the loci of each approach are different, they respond to and draw on each other in a variety of ways. In fact, these three approaches are still influencing both L1 and L2 writing instruction and assessment up to date and satisfying different writing needs.
