1944年1月签订的《澳新协定》是太平洋战争进入最后阶段澳大利亚和新西兰之间签订的一个重要的双边合作协定。协定的签署使得澳新两国尤其是澳大利亚的区域性本位意识得到了加强,协定中有关国际组织的设想对联合国的成立以及《联合国宪章》的诞生都产生了重要影响。其中有关参与战后太平洋地区停战协定以及战后安排的条款,更是成为澳新两国孜孜以求的战略目标。然而,该协定所显示的澳新有关太平洋岛屿处置的原则,给太平洋战争后期以及战后初期澳美战略协作带来了一定的负面影响。

The Australia-New Zealand Agreement signed in January 1944 was an important bilateral agreement of cooperation between Australia and New Zealand during the later period of the Pacific War.The signing of the Agreement has strengthened the regional consciousness of Australia and New Zealand,especially for Australia,and some ideas about how to form international organizations also played an important role in the foundation of the United Nations and the Charter of the United Nations.Some provisons concerning their participation in the post-war armistice pact and settlement in the pacific area was the strategic object they all sought for.However,the principle in dealing with the pacific islands brought some negative effects on the strategic cooperation between Australia and America during the later period of the Pacific War and the early period of post-war.
