摘要
《艰难时世》揭示出工业文明在创造巨大社会物质财富的同时,也导致了贫富两极分化、阶级矛盾日益尖锐以及反动的资产阶级价值观念,资本主义制度的黑暗和罪恶日益暴露。狄更斯表达了对苦难人民悲惨命运的深切同情,期望通过人道主义情感教育来拯救整个资本主义社会。
Hard Times reveals that industrial civilization creates enormous social wealth as well as results in polarization between the rich and the poor, incisive class conflict and reactionary bourgeois values. The darkness and evil of capitalist society is presented day by day. Dickens heartily feels pity for the miserable destiny of the lower class, expecting to res- cue the whole capitalist society through humanitarian affective education.
