Approaches to Handle Cultural Factors in TCM Translation: Domestication and Foreignization

归化和异化问题是翻译界的争论焦点。通过对归化文化翻译法在原文信息传递的同时对原语文化的缺失甚至误解的分析,指出:在中医药的翻译中只有积极运用异化文化翻译法,尊重和再现原语文化,才能准确完整表达中医内涵。

Domestication and foreignization constitute a controversial issue in the academia of translation. After the drawbacks of domestication, which conveys the meaning of the source language in the target language but causes the loss of cultural identity or even misunderstanding of the source culture, are analyzed, it is pointed out that TCM translation cannot be accurate and complete unless foreignization is more advocated and the source language culture is respected and resurrected.
