Opening up an Axical Age of Legal Knowledge in Chinese Intellectual History

随着中国历史逐步完成从传统到现代的转换,中国正在进入一个全新的法治时代。与此同时,中国思想也将迎来它的现代形态,进到一个全新的知识时代——法学时代。从中国思想发展的长程视角看,法学时代是自秦汉以来继经学时代、理学时代的又一个新的知识轴心时代。正如经学知识、理学知识各自支配了上千年的中国历史一样,法学知识必将成为支配中国历史新的千年的话语范型。

With China＇s historical transition from tradition to modernity gradually taking shape, China is entering a brand new age of rule of law. At the same time, Chinese thought will welcome its modern expression, entering a brand new age of knowledge the age of legal science. From a long term point of view of development, this age of legal science is a new axieal age of knowledge on the continuum of the age of classics and the age of Neo-Confucianism since Qin and Han dynasties. Just as the knowledge of classics and the knowledge of Neo-Confucianism dominated Chinese history for a millennium respectively, the knowledge of legal science is going to become the discourse paradigm that will dominate Chinese history for the new millennium.
