On Value of Traditional Chinese“Three Immortalities" and Its Modernity

"三不朽"价值目标是中国传统社会的价值追求,特别是士阶层,他们既是传承者也是实践者;"三不朽"论的核心思想是如何处理群己之间的价值关系;在西方个人自由主义和功利主义思想的侵袭下,"三不朽"论也遭遇了现代性困境。对此,本文从全面化、平民化和现代化三个角度予以阐释。

The value goal of ＂three immortalities＂ is the pursuit of value in Chinese traditional society, especially in the intelligentsi- a, for they are both inheritors and practitioners. The core of ＂three immortalities＂ is how to handle the relation between the value of the individual and the group. In the invasion of Western liberal individualism and utilitarianism, ＂three immortalities＂ also encoun- ter a dilemma as to modernity, the interpretation of which is involved in the following three perspectives, namely, the generalization, plebifieation and modernization.
