林语堂的智慧观

摘要 林语堂学及中西印文化,从早年起,他就找到了一条成功的译介智慧之路。林语堂认同中国儒道两家学说,把智慧放在个人日常生活领域来考量,从中突出闲适生活的重要性。他认为,在不同层次达到智慧生活的各种方法中,幽默未尝不是一种最佳的途径。立足于这样一种仅仅是"人生一世"为主要时间的智慧观,林语堂摒弃了西方和印度文化对彼岸世界的设计诉求,特别是对希腊哲学开创的理性传统和基督教最终把智慧交给神这两种思想主张的无视,使得其展示的智慧观在一定程度上遮蔽了智慧本身。 Familiar with Chinese, Indian and Western culture, Lin Yutang made a wise successful path of translation from his early days. Lin agreed with Confucianism and Taoism, considered the problem of wisdom in the individual areas of daily life, and attached much importance to leisure life in the process of his research. He thought that humor was the best way to achieve a wise life. Based on such a view of achieving wisdom only in one's life time, Lin abandoned the demand about the other world existing in the westem and Indian culture. Especially, ignoring the ideas of the rational tradition in the Greek philosophy and the Christians' putting wisdom to the God, Lin had made the wisdom itself obscured by his concept of wisdom in a certain extent.
